Lakeland Volunteers In Medicine (LVIM) is a volunteer run medical clinic that provides free primary medical and dental care to the working uninsured of Lakeland. Lakeland’s Continuum of Care Initiative provides essential services including food, clothing, shelter, medical, dental, employment and educational services to the homeless population via a coalition of local service providers and funding organizations. Improving Lakeland’s Schools is an initiative that seeks to raise the grades that area schools received in a recent assessment, employees from various organizations were encouraged to volunteer at least one hour per week at the two targeted schools, due to intense mentoring efforts and the adoption of the schools, scores were improved by at least two letters in one year.
