From KCRA in Sacramento, a segment on Rancho Cordova combining an E-recycling effort with celebration of its All-America City status.

From the El Paso Times:

EL PASO — The city did a little dance in the end zone Tuesday. El Paso celebrated its recognition by the National Civic League earlier this month as one of 10 All-America Cities. The City Council delayed its meeting in the morning for a reception and cake on the first floor of City Hall. Men who traveled to Kansas City, Mo., to push El Paso’s nomination for the award sported golf shirts that said “El Paso 2010″ on the front and “Have a seat at our table” on the back.”

From the Gastonia Gazette:

“The All-America City awards ceremony ended more than a week ago in Kansas City, Mo. But now that Gastonia has its 2010 title firmly in hand, don’t expect the city to stop boisterously heralding its achievement any time soon. “We’ve already scheduled a whole bunch of dates to celebrate it,” said Mayor Jennie Stultz. The National Civic League named Gastonia as one of 10 All-America cities June 18, from a field of 25 finalists. Winners in the annual competition must prove how they responded to challenges and solved problems in their communities.

Gastonia demonstrated its work to revitalize the struggling Highland community; its support of the Run for the Money, which raises money for nonprofits; and efforts to encourage high school students to stay in school and succeed professionally. Many of the more than 40 members of Gastonia’s All-America City delegation met late last week to begin pinning down some of those dates. They regrouped Thursday evening for their first public appearance since the win, at the Downtown Alive music concert at Main Avenue and South Street, wearing the same colorful T-shirts they donned during their winning presentation.
